ABOUT EVREN
Evren Werger is a pianist and teacher who has performed globally on piano, organ, synthesizer, toy piano, and melodica. They specialize in the music of living composers, focusing primarily on rare and unfamilar works. Evren has proudly commissioned and premiered close to 75 works in the past decade, including an album of contemporary solo piano music and a film score.

Evren has a thriving piano studio of students currently age 3 to 85. They take pride in the community they have fostered of enthusiastic, explorative, and investigative pianists who perform music from a plethora of sources, including classical repertoire, popular music, and even their own compositions and improvisations.
WHAT EVREN IS DOING NOW?
Evren is an adjunct piano professor at the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO) and a private piano instructor in the Mizzou Community Music Program. They also have a self-owned piano studio and host frequent recitals to benefit the community.

When not performing, studying, or teaching, Evren is eagerly exploring the hiking and bicycling trails of Missouri and tending to their garden of carnivorous plants.

EVREN'S MUSICAL HISTORY
Evren graduated from the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO) with a Master's in Piano Performance. At Mizzou, they studied privately with Dr. Peter Miyamoto and was the pianist in the Mizzou New Music Ensemble, directed by Dr. Yoshiaki Onishi and Dr. Stephan Freund of Alarm Will Sound. Evren received their undergraduate degrees from Lawrence University and Conservatory of Music (Appleton, WI), where they studied with Dr. Michael Mizrahi and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.M. in Piano Performance and a B.A. in German Cultural Studies. Evren is also an active chamber and church musician, having held multiple staff positions in various churches and denominations. Previously, Evren performed with ensembles such as Eighth Blackbird, Yarn/Wire, ~Nois, and with members of the Wet Ink, Fifth House, Alarm Will Sound, and Khemia ensembles, and performed during the Mizzou International Composers' Festival (2021, 2022) and New York's MATA Festival (2022). Notably, Evren was the youngest-ever fellow to attend the Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab (2018) where they had the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as saxophonist Nick Zoulek, composers Annika Socolofsky and Shara Nova, and video artist XUAN. Evren has also worked alongside composers George Lewis and Pascal Le Boeuf in score editing, and they wrote their Senior Thesis on the life and works of composer-pianist Dr. Nancy Van De Vate, with whom they briefly studied in Vienna, Austria.
